Managing the Phaseout of Coal-fired Power Plants Session 2: Economic Viability - 04 Dec 2023

In Sep 2023, MAS launched a paper to explore the use of “transition credits” to accelerate early phaseout of coal-fired power plants. We continue the conversation in this session, where members of the coalition willing to explore transition credit projects discuss how carbon credits can be used to accelerate the early phaseout of CFPPs. Panelists will talk through the considerations, challenges and possible solutions from their unique perspectives as part of (i) financing projects to generate supply of credits, (ii) demand and offtaking, and (iii) ensuring credits are high-integrity economic viability.
