The New Pragmatism: S&P Global’s 2024 Energy and Climate Scenarios

The annually updated Energy and Climate Scenarios explore how the energy transition could evolve under a range of different sets of assumptions about the future, dependent on progress in critical areas – such as technology breakthroughs, geopolitical alignment and market confidence.  

Included is the S&P Global Commodity Insights base case, as well as two plausible alternatives. In addition to these three alternative views, two Net Zero cases are provided using complex modelling that harnesses the breadth and depth of S&P Global’s data and insight across energy and commodity markets.  

The Net Zero cases outline two technology enabled pathways to limit global warming to 1.5°C by end of century.
