Sustainable Sea Transport

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) is actively working to decarbonise the maritime sector.

Singapore is promoting the adoption of net-zero harbour craft as part of national efforts to achieve net-zero by 2050. MPA shortlisted 11 electric harbour craft designs through an expression of interest in 2023 and has been supporting companies to optimise their designs to meet the operational conditions in Singapore waters.

MPA is also leveraging value-chain stakeholder collaboration to accelerate the transition to a multi-fuel future for bunkering. Earlier this year, MPA opened applications for licences to supply methanol as a marine fuel in Singapore. Singapore is also developing a network of green and digital shipping corridors to pilot solutions to enhance the resilience, efficiency and sustainability of global supply chains. Singapore continues to actively support the efforts led by the International Maritime Organization to reduce international transport emissions.
