Greening Our Data Centre Sector

While Date Centres (DC) are a critical foundation of the digital economy – underpinning digital services, operations and transactions – they are heavy users of power and water. As a compact city-state and regional DC hub, Singapore seeks to pioneer solutions to address the challenge of sustainable DC growth.

Developed with industry input, the Green DC Roadmap launched by the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) aims to provide a sustainable growth pathway for DCs in Singapore to push the boundaries on two fronts:

(a) improving DCs’ energy efficiency at the hardware and software levels; and
(b) accelerating DCs’ use of green energy to expand capacity.
