Climate Research to Guide Adaptation Plans

We need to deepen our understanding of how climate change is unfolding in the tropics and the Indo-Pacific Maritime Continent, commonly termed as the “engine room of the global climate system”.

Singapore’s Third National Climate Change Study (V3) was released in January 2024. It provides the world’s first high-resolution climate change projections for Singapore and the wider Southeast Asia (SEA) region. V3 projects higher temperatures, more wet and dry extremes and accelerating increase in mean sea levels for Singapore and SEA by 2100.

V3 findings has helped countries in SEA better understand and adapt to the impacts of climate change at a more localised level. V3 data is shared with SEA countries and the wider research community. In Apr 2025, we launched the V3 Data Sharing Portal to allow regional partners to access V3 climate projections, to inform further research on climate impacts. Singapore also hosts the ASEAN Specialised Meteorological Centre to support and enhance weather and climate services to the region.
