Sustainable Land Transport

Singapore is actively pursuing sustainability across the land, maritime and air transport domains.

To reduce emissions from the land transport sector, the Land Transport Authority has actively encouraged the use of public transport and active mobility. Efforts include expanding our rail network to 360km by 2030s, building around 1,300km of cycling paths island wide by 2030 and repurposing suitable stretches of road into wider footpaths, cycling paths or bus lanes.

Singapore is also transitioning towards a cleaner-energy vehicle population, with a vision for all vehicles to run on cleaner energy by 2040.
