Two Decades of Singapore’s Green Building Journey

From the launch of our first Green Building Masterplan and Green Mark certification scheme, Singapore has transformed our built environment to embrace green building excellence.

Today, having successfully greened about 61% of our building stock, with approximately 26% of new developments achieving Super Low Energy certification and best-in-class buildings demonstrating 72% energy efficiency improvement from 2005 levels, we are steadily progressing towards our ambitious "80-80-80" targets for 2030.

The Green Mark scheme has evolved from a simple green building rating tool into a comprehensive sustainability framework to encompass health, digitalisation, resilience, and whole-life carbon considerations. With more than 2,500 Green Mark-certified buildings locally and over 340 Green Mark projects across 18 countries, the scheme has demonstrated strong industry commitment and established a significant international presence.
